Dex is 1 Month

Dex turned one month on June 11.
He is no longer wearing preemies and has been wearing newborn sizes for the past couple of weeks.
He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces at his one month check up.
He has the cutest little chin quiver when he cries.
He is opening is eyes and tracking faces and objects a lot more.
My baby boy is growing too fast :-)

Something About The Dog Bed

Dex has five different options of places to sleep: the swing, bouncer, bedside sleeper, co sleeper basket and our actual bed. Does Dex like to sleep in any of these options? Nope, he likes the dog bed. (Don't worry we washed it).

For the first few weeks Dex slept the best in his swing. All of a sudden he decided he didn't like it. Everytime I put him down for a nap or bedtime he squirmed and grunted and eventually started crying until I took him out. I tried all the other beds, same thing he slept for maybe 20 minutes then wake up and cry.

One night I handed him over to Conrad and told him to try and get Dex to sleep. I went to bed and woke up a few hours later to little Dex sleeping soundly in Chloe's dog bed. Conrad told me he was fussing in the swing so he put him up in the dog bed and he settled right down and slept for 4 1/2 hours! What?!

Last night he slept in our bed in the dog bed and he slept his first 5 hour stretch.

Sorry hound, its the babies bed now.

Grandma Sandy Visits

It's true what is said about not fully appreciating your mom until you become one yourself. I have always appreciated my mom but boy do I really appreciate her now and everything she did/does for me. I admire all mothers so much more than I did before.

I'm so lucky to have my mom and my mother in-law t to look up to. Dex is so lucky to have two awesome Grandmas and I can't wait for him to meet Grandma Patty :-)

Having Dex has been so great, but it also has been extremely exhausting. It was so nice having my mom here to help. I wish she could have stayed longer.

Because of work she couldn't come down until Dex was two weeks. I think it was better that she came later, as the first week I was still pumped with adrenalin of the whole newness of it all and we had meals brought to us.

The second week came and all the lack of sleep from the previous week hit me hard. The meals stopped coming and the dishes and the laundry were piling up.

My mom was a HUGE help and I can't thank her enough. We had fun talking, laughing, watching 3 seasons of The Walking Dead, shopping and waking up with Dex at 2, 4 and 6 in the morning.

Thanks Mom/ Grandma Sandy! So glad you are coming back in a week!
