New York City Part 3

On our last day in New York we went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not exhibit. There was a guy in the front pounding a nail up his nose, it was pretty grose.

I had a video of him yanking it out, but it wouldn't upload, I'll have to try again later.

After Ripley's we went to Chocolate World, mmmm love me some chocolate!

While walking around we happened to come upon the Manhattan Temple, it just kind of appeared out of nowhere just right smack dab in the middle of all the buildings.

A couple of people recommended that we try Carnegie s Deli so we went there for lunch. The waiter recommended their famous sandwich which we ordered. We decided to share it because we weren't super hungry and they charged us 3 bucks for sharing! I swear they nickle and dime you everywhere in New York. Anyway, out comes the BIGGEST sandwich I have ever seen. There was so much MEAT. I couldn't even eat half of my half of the sandwich I was so sick and for a minute there I was considering becoming vegetarian, just the thought of meat made me sick.

Just looking at this picture makes me sick. Conrad was not smiling like this after he ate the monster sandwich haha. It's not that it tasted gross, it was just way way too much.

After Carnegie's we walked around for what felt like forever, and decided to see a movie just so we could rest our legs. The movie theater had like 6 + floors, we went up like 5 different escalators to get to our movie.

We walked around some more after the movie and decided we were hungry for dessert so we walked another 8 blocks or so to Serendipity 3 for some frozen hot chocolate.

Conrad ordered a frozen hot chocolate AND a cheese cake. He made himself sick again ha ha.

Later that night we went and saw Jersey Boy's it was my favorite Broadway show we saw.

Waiting for the show to start.

We flew out of New York on St. Patrick's Day so we didn't have time to go to the Parade but we did have time to go to a local Irish pub and have some lunch and watch the parade on T.V. The food was really good.

Conrad wore his I clover NY sweatshirt to celebrate.

And that was our trip!

New York City Part Two

On our second day in NYC we went sight seeing. We saw Wall Street, the Empire State Building, Ground Zero and of course the Statue of Liberty. It was so fun to see every thing, I was in awe of all the HUGE buildings EVERYWHERE.

Our first stop was the Empire State Building.
View from the bottom and top of the Empire State Building.

It was so cool looking down at the city, it looked like it went on forever.

Such an awesome view.

After the Empire State Building we went to Ground Zero.

This is the new World Trade Center they are building, The Freedom Tower or One World Trade Center. It is going to be 1,776 feet tall, the same as the year of the nations declaration of independence.

After Ground Zero, we took a boat over to the Statue of Liberty.

In the bottom left corner is the Liberty Motorcycle made out of copper. Pretty cool.

We were FREEZING on the tour bus it was supposedly 61 degrees that day but it felt more like 40 degrees. There was a stand right next to our bus stop that was selling I Heart NY sweatshirts so Conrad hopped off the bus and bought us some because we couldn't take being cold any longer.

This is our we are freezing! faces.

They were conveniently selling sweatshirts right behind us.

Conrad doing what he does best, getting people to lower their prices.

Green was the only color they had in his size. This is his I am still cold and I hate green face. He is all ready for St. Patties Day!

We drove past this church on our tour. It was in the movie "National Treasure."

While we were going through China Town, our tour guide pointed out Katz's Deli. He said it was the oldest Deli in New York and that it was really good. He also told us there was a scene that was shot at Katz's in the movie "When Harry met Sally." I've never seen that movie but we decided to try it out.

It was the most expensive sandwich we have ever eaten but it was also the BEST sandwich we have ever had. It was really good!
MMMM... Delicious!

And still more pictures to come.

New York City! Part One

Conrad and I got to go to the Big Apple for spring break thanks to my brother and sister in-law James and Tricia. They gave us their free frequent flier tickets for Christmas last year, so thank you James and Tricia! We had a blast! New York City is such a fun place to visit. We spent 3 whole days there and did so many things and yet we barely scratched the surface of the things you can do there. We saw Broadway shows, ate New York pizza and other delicious food, went sight seeing, got lost several times, and walked around A LOT! I went from hardly walking to walking 6 or more miles a day and boy were my feet and legs sore! But it was so worth it.

We left bright and early on Tuesday morning. Here we are waiting to get on our plane. We look so tired!

We arrived in New York in the early evening, I was a little worried when we pulled up to our hotel and saw this...

The surrounding area of our hotel was a little sketchy looking, but it wasn't bad at all we had a nice stay there.

We were right across the street from a cemetery. It was crazy how tightly packed all the tombstones were. Just like all the buildings in New York.

The hotel told us that since we were staying four nights they gave us their best room. We were surprised to find this in our room...

Our very own personal Jacuzzi right next to our bed. Yes!

We were so tired from the plane trip we decided to order in food to our room and turn in early.

We had to walk a mile everyday to the subway from our hotel. It took us a few days to figure out the whole subway thing. We either got on the wrong one, or we got off at the wrong stop and had to get back on. Oh, and a couple times we missed it because we took too long to get on or off.

So happy we found the right subway!

Our first day in New York we walked around Time Square and looked for shows that were selling discount tickets.

Right in the middle of Time Square. I couldn't believe I was actually there.

I really wanted to see Wicked, I saw it in San Fransisco 8 years ago and LOVED it and I have been wanting to see it again ever since, but the tickets are so dang expensive. So we signed up for the lottery that they do before every show to try and win super cheap front row tickets but we didn't win. I was so bummed. BUT, we did win the lottery tickets for the play, Godspell Wahoo!

We were in the very front row sitting on pillows, yep pillows. It wasn't the most comfortable place to sit. Conrad wasn't too thrilled ha ha.

Here we are sitting on our pillows.

This is a really bad picture, but I just took it to show exactly how close we were to the stage, I could rest my chin on the stage, we were that close.

GodSpell was pretty good. It was a bunch of different parables from the book of Matthew. I almost got kicked in the face a couple times though ha ha.

After Godspell we walked around, ate some delicious Pizza and then saw the show Mama Mia.

After Mama Mia we walked around and enjoyed all the lights and craziness of New York City.

More pictures to come soon.
