Our first year in Arizona

After a year of thinking about starting a blog and stalking other peoples blogs, I finally decided to take action and start one. So here is my first post, yay! Conrad is making fun of me right now because apparently he thinks we have nothing to blog about, it's kinda true but I don't care :D. We made our year mark here in Phoenix on August 11. I can't believe it has been a year, time goes by so fast!

Lets see, what do I think about Phoenix? well, I like the apartment we live in, and I absolutely LOVE our ward, but I am not a fan of the area. It is just dumpy in a lot of parts and there is a lot of sketchy looking people everywhere you go. We always joke about it because you can be on one street that is kept up nice and the yards are kept up but then you go to the next street over and it is ghetto-ville USA. That is inner city Phoenix for ya. Definitely not the bubble of Logan or Lindon Utah. Over all its been a good experience though we have had a lot of fun times and I know we are supposed to be here right now. I am glad we moved here because we have met a lot of great people and made some good friends.

Conrad has already started his second year at Phoenix School of Law. He hates it. There is nothing he likes about it and he will tell you that. If you are thinking of going to law school and you talk to Conrad about it, he will talk you out of it. He works really hard though is gone most of the day studying. I am proud of him, and I know it will pay off in the end, at least I hope it will. It better ha.

I have been working at a preschool and after school program for kids k-6 grade. I like it. I love working with kids (most of the time :D) I have grown attached to some of the kids. Some of them are so sweet and others, not so much. I work in a lower income area and a lot of the kids are in foster care. You can tell they have a rough life. The other day this little 4 year old boy who is a foster child told me he had a dream that I was his mom and we bought a new puppy and went on a picnic. So sweet! It broke my heart to hear him say that.

Like I said, we love our ward here in Phoenix. The people are all very kind and they made us feel so welcome when we first moved in. Conrad and I have been impressed by how genuine and kind these people have been to us. We have made some good friends in the ward and have had good times with them. Conrad is a Sunday school teacher for 14 and 15 year olds. He has a class full of boys, they love him. It doesn't surprise me, he is practically a 15 year old boy himself haha. Anyone who knows him would probably agree :). I am pretty sure he just messes around with them the whole time, ha no, I know he teaches them and I know he is great at it. I am the second counselor in the Young Woman's Presidency. I love being in with the young women. I have learned so much, and have had a lot of fun with the girls and the other leaders.

If I can figure out how, I will post some pictures that I took over the year. I really suck at taking pictures so there won't be very many at all. Maybe I will get better at it now that I have a blog :)

Trip to the Mesa Temple. Its about 30 minutes away from us, so not too far.

Cheeseball picture ha ha

Phoenix Suns Game!

We took the light rail to the game. Interesting experience.

There is nothing behind us because we were as high up as you could go ha ha.

Thanksgiving 2010

It was just the two of us last thanksgiving. Conrad took on the big job of cooking the turkey and I must admit he did really good! It was delicious.

The yummy food we made.

Yes I know, we need some nicer dishware

The finished product. 16 pounder for just the two of us. Lasted us for awhile.

Some pictures of our apartment...

My favorite feature of the apartment, walk in closet :)
